YUMINALE: About

Yuminale (pronounced "you-min-al") was started in 2000 as an open ended studio project group that has since had four album releases. The person behind all this is Deane Holmes, a veteran musician and composer. All of Yuminale’s work has been written, played, engineered, produced and mastered by Deane. He has been playing music for most of his life and plays keyboards, bass and percussion. Synthesizers have been a part of his musical experience since the mid 70's when he bought his own monophonic Korg, and still figure highly in the music of Yuminale. In regard to the style and the sound, the influences vary greatly. While trying not to copy anyone, the music sounds original as much as possible. In one moment it’s a soundscape from another world then onto jazz piano, to cutting-edge electronica, and then to a meditative trance. This comes from experience in a wide array of bands and musical situations that range from playing hardcore punk and pop to hard rock, from soft ballads and swing to purist jazz. Always being one to grow and try new ideas while working with new and emerging technologies, the artist states that in the future the sound, style and material are open to go just about anywhere. The instrumentation of all the music has been created by electronic instruments inside and outside the computer. If samples are used, they are almost always self-created. There is also live electric bass on a few tunes.
